Five Ways Postalocity Makes Managing Your Storage Facility Easier3 min read

Storage Units

Across the United States, there are roughly 50,000 storage unit rental facilities. That’s more than the amount of McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Burger Kings COMBINED! That’s an eye-opening amount that leads me to one probable idea: we American’s definitely like to hang on to our stuff, even if it means putting it into a dark room, rarely seen or used. Here’s a list ways Postalocity makes managing your storage facility easier!

Certified Mail

Postalocity has lots of happy customers in the self-storage facility management category. One of the biggest advantages they’ve told us about is our Certified Mail options. If you own any kind of rental property you know that the there will always be tenants that don’t pay.

In that event, you must send them notification via Certified Mail. You must prove you gave them ample time to correct their overdue balance. After that, a “notice of lockout” will likely be sent if the balance isn’t resolved, and worse yet, a “auction notice” to let the tenant know the business will be legally auctioning the items in their unit to recover the overdue balance.

Marketing to Competitors to Absorb

We’ve noticed a trend in this industry of mailing letters to other self-storage facilities in hopes that the owner is interested in selling. These letters are easily processed through Postalocity by either using our address capture tools or uploading a CVN file with the address data organized into columns. You can also easily send marketing pieces with your Postalocity account advertising a new special or simply for brand awareness.

Passive Income

Passive income is a buzzword lately and owning a storage unit is definitely a sought-after avenue. If done correctly, they don’t require a lot of hands-on work. Especially if you utilize a mailing service like Postalocity. It automates the process of sending welcome letters, lien letters, auction notices, rent increase notices, and many more.

Time savings is key with passive income and Postalocity can assist.

Proof of Mailing

Certified Mailing can get expensive quickly! Even with optional signature upon delivery, Certified can put a pinch on your pocketbook in a hurry. We offer free, downloadable mailing affidavit and mailing affidavit details.

The mailing affidavit is a signed letter from the owner of Postalocity verifying your mail job date of upload/approval, how many pieces you processed, and the date it was delivered to the USPS. The additional details page provides the IMB tracing codes assigned to each piece by the USPS. This code allows you see what USPS facility the letter was scanned at as well as when the USPS expects it to be delivered. It’s not the same as Certified Mail, obviously, but it’s a great alternative when Certified Mail isn’t required.

Better Organization

You choose how your processed mailing jobs are stored in Postalocity. A lot of our storage facility customers prefer to have us store the data for them for at least 90 days. In the event a tenant claims they were never mailed a notice, you can quickly and easily access the job and it’s details. Using these details, you can prove that you did what you were supposed to do according to the law.

Big or small, Postalocity easily conforms to your specific and unique needs. Give our support crew a call or email today with any questions you might have. Signing up is easy, free, and comes with zero obligation.
