Direct-Mail is HUGE

Direct Mail is huge, this we’ve known for a long time. Does everyone know this?  Nope!  One of our really good customers, Tony Rush, with The Marketing Expedition Society, recently published some interesting information, backing up our thoughts on Direct Mail.

Read Tony’s message below.

I had a great question from subscriber Tammy about my Every Day Income Plan home study course.

Tammy writes:

“Hi, Tony.  I think I’ve bought everything you’ve published in the last two years.  The newsletter is my favorite.   I’ll admit to being intrigued about the idea of making sales with direct-mail but I’m a little skeptical.  I’ve always heard direct mail was expensive.  And, to be honest, I guess I’m surprised that people still buy stuff by mail.  Isn’t everyone online these days?  I hate to sound negative and I promise I’m not.  I’m just trying to understand.  What am I missing?”

Let me tell you something.  Tammy is probably one of the most intelligent people in the WORLD!

Do you know how I know?    Because she’s asking the same questions that I ASKED when someone recommended direct-mail to me!

So, first, let’s get the basic facts out of the way:  direct-mail is HUGE.

In fact, at $44 BILLION dollars a year, direct mail is the #2 advertising medium in the U.S.   (Hint:  want to guess what #1 is?  It ain’t internet marketing.  It’s telemarketing.)

Not only that, more people LIKE direct-mail than they do email…and it has a higher ROI, too.  Consider these statistics:
  • 56% of consumers believe that print marketing is more trustworthy than digital (source: Direct Marketing Association)
  • 67% of consumers feel that physical mail is more personal than email (source:
  • 98% of consumers bring in their mail on the day it was delivered. 77% of them sort through it immediately (source:
  • 59% of U.S. respondents agreed with the following statement, “I enjoy getting postal mail from brands about new products.” (source: Epsilon)
  • 79% of consumers will act on direct mail immediately, compared to only 45% who say they deal with email immediately. (source: TheDrum)
  • 56% of consumers say they have tried a new business after receiving direct mail (source:
  • 44% of people said they had visited a marketer’s website after receiving direct mail (source: The Drum)

But here’s where the rubber hits the road:  do you want to know what the response rate is for direct-mail?

Check this out.  According to the Direct Marketing Association, here’s the response rates of direct-mail compared to electronic media:
  • Email:  .1% response rate
  • Paid search:  .6% response rate
  • Social media:  .4% response rate
  • Online display:  .2%

And drum roll…..

Direct mail’s response rate is 5.1% industry wide.  Even the B2B campaigns average 4.4% response.

Does that blow your mind?  It should.

Because it means one thing:

If you’re not using direct-mail in your business, you’re leaving a FORTUNE on the table.

These numbers explain why guys like me are routinely earning a couple thousand dollars a day with a FRACTION of the ad-spend that I used to spend on Facebook.

Let me put this into perspective….

A couple of years ago, I was spending $300,000 a year on Facebook.
My cost-per-click was going through the roof.
My CPM rates were climbing.
And, even though I was profitable, the cost to acquire a customer finally got so high that it just didn’t make any sense.
Even though I was making more than I was spending, the margins were becoming razor thin.

Fast forward to today.  I’m spending a FRACTION of those numbers and I’m making WAY more money.

So, YES, direct-mail is bigger than ever.  And because so many people have given up on offline marketing at all and spend all their time online….there’s a LOT of money out there for people like me who are smart enough to see it.

Listen up, my friend:

Don’t make the mistake of thinking we’re talking about a bunch of old coots who are stupid, broke and have no money.

YOU get direct-mail every day.
And YOU go to your mailbox every day.
And YOU look at each and every piece.

The people who are buying from direct-mail aren’t stupid.  They’re just like you.

They’re smart.
They’ve got money to spend.
They’re hungry to buy.
And, in some cases, if you’re only advertising online….they…will…never…see…your….ad.

But if you put a letter in their mailbox the way I explain in The Every Day Income Planthey’ll pull out their wallet so fast it’ll make your head spin!

This is already longer than I intended but I hope you’re picking up what I’m putting down.

If you’re not using direct-mail in your business, you’re missing out on a TON of money.

In fact, if all you did was start following up by direct-mail with the people who buy from you online, that ONE move alone will put you at the top of the list of people they know, like and respect.

‘Cause I promise you this:
Russell ain’t doing it.
And Ryan ain’t doing it.
And Frank ain’t doing it.
And Mike ain’t doing it.
And Ray ain’t doing it.

But I’ll tell you who is:

And we’re making a fortune.

Do we still market online?  Of course!
But adding direct-mail takes it to a whole other level.

Anyway, you get it.  All you need to do is take the first step:  go here and pick up my Every Day Income Plan course.

In addition to getting a first-rate course on how to start using direct-mail to make a ton o’ money….
